Abstract

La invención provee un método para calcular electroquímicamente la tasa de corrosión de un metal; el método incluye conectar eléctricamente un electrodo de referencia a un electrómetro, conectar eléctricamente un electrodo de trabajo formado de un metal de muestra al electrómetro, conectar eléctricamente un contraelectrodo al electrodo de trabajo, sumergir el electrodo de referencia, el electrodo de trabajo y el contraelectrodo en una sal fundida a una temperatura de por lo menos 100°C y tan alta como 900°C, y generar corriente explorando un potencial de electrodo de trabajo para generar una curva de polarización de la cual puede calcularse la tasa de corrosión.
