Abstract

Un método para formar un compuesto de matriz polimérica reforzado con fibras de carbono distribuyendo fibras o nanotubos de carbono en una fase polimérica fundida que comprende uno o más polímeros fundidos y aplicando un sucesión de eventos de deformación por esfuerzo de corte a la fase polimérica fundida de manera tal que la fase polimérica fundida rompa las fibras de carbono sucesivamente con cada evento, produciendo bordes reactivos sobre las fibras de carbono rotas que reaccionan con dichos o uno o más polímeros y los reticulan. El compuesto muestra mejoramientos en las propiedades mecánicas, tales como la dureza, la resistencia y la absorción de energía de impacto.
