Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un proceso para someter una muestra de roca sedimentaria y una muestra de materia orgánica total aislada de la roca a una secuencia de calentamiento bajo atmósfera inerte y se miden las cantidades de compuestos de hidrocarburo, de CO y CO2 liberados por cada muestra. Luego se somete el residuo de cada muestra resultante del calentamiento bajo atmósfera inerte a una secuencia de calentamiento bajo atmósfera oxidante, y se miden las cantidades de CO y de CO2 liberadas para cada residuo. Se determina una cantidad de compuestos de hidrocarburo bajo la forma libre en la roca a partir de mediciones así realizadas, por ejemplo a partir de una cantidad de compuestos de hidrocarburo bajo la forma libre y retenida en la muestra de roca y de una cantidad de compuestos de hidrocarburo bajo la forma retenida en la muestra de materia orgánica, su aplicación es principalmente para la exploración y explotación petrolera.
