Abstract
The present disclosure is related to a novel multiple effect cooling and desalination process by simple effect absorption LiBr/H2O activated by thermal energy, with the purpose of counteracting the growing problem of thermal conditioning of spaces and the availability of water of the populations that live in coastlines. The conventional absorption refrigeration cycle was modified by directly interacting with the sudden multiple effect evaporation/desalination process. Resulting in a system that is composed of an air conditioning by absorption subprocess, a desalination subprocess and a product water extraction and suitability subprocess; taking advantage of the low and high pressure of the cooling/heating process by absorption to desalinate seawater in a more efficient way. While removing the cooling tower by using seawater to cool the absorber. An internal energy integration is made, allowing the condenser to be removed from the absorption cooling system by taking advantage of the generator steam to activate the MED. In addition to using seawater for the last condensation of the MED. Obtaining a compact, more efficient machine that can operate for low and high capacities, being able to be activated by a heat source from solar concentrators such as a Parabolic Cylinder, Fresnel, Compound Parabolic Concentrator, inter alia, or from another heat source. The characteristics described above make this invention a recommended option for the residential, commercial and industrial sectors in coastal-desert areas, with warm-humid climate where there are problems with the availability of drinking water and high temperatures.
