Abstract

This workpiece clamping device is provided with: an abutting member having a planar workpiece abutting surface along a vertical surface; a grip part provided so as to protrude from the workpiece abutting surface in the horizontal direction and brought into pressure contact with the inner peripheral surface of a clamping hole of the workpiece in an expanded diameter state; a clamping rod that expands the diameter of the grip part and brings the workpiece into close contact with the workpiece abutting surface by retreating in the direction opposite the protruding direction of the grip part; a drive part for causing reciprocal movement of the clamping rod; and a temporary holding mechanism that includes a locking part locked to a peripheral portion of the clamping hole at the front side of the grip part. In a state in which the clamping rod is moved forward, the locking part is disposed in a range in which the distance in the axial direction from the workpiece abutting surface is equal to or greater than the axial length of the clamping hole and less than or equal to the total value of the axial length and the maximum movement distance of the clamping rod.
