Abstract

En un aspecto, la invención proporciona un método para la síntesis de un derivado de olefina grasa. El método incluye: a) el contacto de una olefina de acuerdo con la Fórmula I (ver Fórmula) con un compañero de reacción de metátesis de acuerdo con la Fórmula IIb (ver Fórmula) en presencia de un catalizador de metátesis en condiciones suficientes para formar un producto de metátesis de acuerdo con la Fórmula llIb: (ver Fórmula) b) la conversión del producto de metátesis al derivado de olefina grasa. Cada R1 se selecciona de manera independiente de H, C1-18 alquilo y C2-18 alquenilo; R2b es C1-8 alquilo; subíndice y es un número entero que varía de 0 a 17; y el subíndice z es un número entero que varía de 0 a 17. En ciertas formas de realización, el catalizador de metátesis es un catalizador de tungsteno o un catalizador de molibdeno. En diversas formas de realización, el derivado de olefina grasa es una feromona de insecto. Se describen además composiciones de feromonas y métodos para su uso.
