Abstract

Un sistema para monitorear dispositivos de campo operando en plantas de proceso incluye una unidad terminal remota (RTU) acoplada a varios dispositivos de campo, cada una configurada para realizar una función respectiva en una planta de proceso, y un servidor dispuesto remotamente desde la RTU y acoplado a la RTU una red de comunicación. La RTU incluye (i) un primer módulo de interfaz configurado para comunicarse de acuerdo con un protocolo de automatización industrial digital, a través del cual la RTU recibe datos indicativos de los estados respectivos de los dispositivos de campo, (ii) una memoria para almacenar los datos recibidos, y (iii) un segundo módulo de interfaz configurado para comunicarse con servidores remotos a través de una red de comunicación. El servidor está configurado para (i) solicitar los estatutos de los dispositivos de campo y (ii) recibir, desde la RTU, indicaciones del estado basadas en los datos almacenados en la memoria de la RTU.
