Abstract

Se proporciona una composición y un método para tereftalato de polietileno (PET) reforzado con grafeno. Se utilizan nanoplaquetas de grafeno (GNPs) que comprenden grafeno de múltiples capas para reforzar el PET, mejorando así las propiedades del PET para diversas nuevas aplicaciones. Las mezclas madre que comprenden tereftalato de polietileno con nanoplaquetas de grafeno dispersas se obtienen mediante mezclado. Las mezclas madre se utilizan para formar nanocompuestos de PET-GNP a fracciones de peso que varían entre 0.5% y 15%. En algunas modalidades, el PET y los GNPs se mezclan en estado fundido por medio de extrusión con doble tornillo. En algunas modalidades, el ultrasonido se acopla con un extrusor con doble tornillo para ayudar con el mezclado de masa fundida. En algunas modalidades, los nanocompuestos de PET-GNP se preparan mediante moldeo por inyección de alta velocidad. Los nanocompuestos de PET-GNP se comparan por medio de sus propiedades mecánicas, térmicas y reológicas para contrastar diferentes procesos de mezclado.
