Abstract
El presente sistema se dirige en varias modalidades a dispositivos, sistemas y métodos para detección, evaluación y/o monitoreo de disfunción olfativa al medir y determinar el umbral de detección olfativa del paciente para la fosa nasal derecha y la izquierda. De manera más específica. la presente invención se refiere a dispositivos, sistemas y métodos para detectar un diferencial asimétrico en un umbral de detección olfativa del paciente (fosa nasal izquierda contra derecha), el cual, cuando está presente, puede usarse como una herramienta para clasificar, detectar, diagnosticar y/o monitorear deterioro olfativo relativo que resulta de la enfermedad Alzheimer. Una modalidad preferida comprende arreglar en cascada aromas al administrar en serie más de un odorante puro a las fosas nasales del paciente, izquierda contra derecha, con medición del tiempo, o número de inhalaciones, requeridas para notar cognitivamente la presencia de odorantes puros.
