Abstract

La invención se relaciona con un uso de una sal fundida reversible para la separación de hidrocarburos, como por ejemplo bitumen crudo y/o petróleo crudo pesado, de material que comprende sólidos minerales. La invención se refiere además con un método que comprende como mínimo los pasos de: (a) poner en contacto una fase líquida que comprende una sal fundida reversible, preferiblemente un líquido iónico reversible, con sólidos minerales que comprenden hidrocarburos y extraer hidrocarburos a la fase líquida a partir de los sólidos minerales; (b) separación de la fase de sólidos minerales de la fase líquida, la cual comprende sal fundida e hidrocarburos; (c) separación de hidrocarburos de la fase líquida que comprende sal fundida; y (d) reciclaje de la fase líquida que comprende sal fundida hasta el paso (a).
