Abstract

Se describe un producto de tierra diatomácea con bajo contenido de sílice cristalina después de al menos un paso de calcinación entre aproximadamente 927°C (1700°F) y aproximadamente 1149°C (2100°F). El producto comprende tierra diatomácea natural y al menos un agente aglutinante que comprende silicato de potasio. Además el producto comprende no más de aproximadamente 4.0% en peso de sílice cristalina y tiene una permeabilidad en el rango de aproximadamente 0.3 darcios a más de aproximadamente 20 darcios. Se describe un procedimiento para elaborar tal producto de tierra diatomácea con un bajo contenido de sílice cristalina.
