Abstract
Se describe un producto de tierra diatomácea con bajo contenido de sílice cristalina después de al menos un paso de calcinación entre aproximadamente 927°C (1700°F) y aproximadamente 1149°C (2100°F). El producto comprende tierra diatomácea natural y al menos un agente aglutinante que comprende silicato de potasio. Además el producto comprende no más de aproximadamente 4.0% en peso de sílice cristalina y tiene una permeabilidad en el rango de aproximadamente 0.3 darcios a más de aproximadamente 20 darcios. Se describe un procedimiento para elaborar tal producto de tierra diatomácea con un bajo contenido de sílice cristalina. Además, se describe una auxiliar de filtro de tierra diatomácea que comprende dicho producto de tierra diatomácea.
