Abstract

A method for producing a armoring component (1) for a motor vehicle, wherein a steel alloy is used, at least the following alloy components in weight percent comprising, manganese (Mn) 15-30 Boron (B) 0.001 to 0.01 as well as further alloying constituents, balance iron and incidental impurities, characterized by the following process steps: - trimming a circuit board (7) and at least partial heating of the trimmed plate (7) to a temperature between 500 and 1200 ° C, preferably between 900 and 1000 ° C, - transfer to a hot forming tool and hot working the circuit board (7), wherein at least one bending radius (R) is greater than 0.5 times the wall thickness (B) of the board (7), - cooling the formed blank (7), wherein a yield strength between 200 and 800 MPa, preferably between 400 and 600 MPa is set, with an elongation at break between 30 and 80%, - optionally heat-treating the thus prepared armoring component (1) and further processing by coupling to other components, in particular a motor vehicle body.
