Abstract

La presente invención se basa en la administración de un probiótico, B. Lactis NCC2818 a mamíferos jóvenes sanos durante el crítico período de destete (en lactantes este período es por lo general de alrededor de 3 hasta alrededor de 12, 18 o 24 meses de edad), de modo de acelerar la adaptación del mamífero joven al nuevo alimento. La eficacia de la invención se evidencia en esta descripción a través de los cambios morfológicos e inmunológicos observados en un modelo animal de destete de lechón. Por lo cual, las administración del probiótico de acuerdo a la invención tuvo un efecto profiláctico, previniendo el malestar severo y los estados patológicos asociados con la introducción de nuevos alimentos durante el período del destete.
