Abstract

Described is a photo catalytic and thermal hybrid system based on a parabolic cylindrical support with a single parabola and linear axial axis able to use the infrared radiation of the solar spectrum, achieving with this a considerable increase in the temperature as well as in the UV-Vis component that starts the degradation process over the TiO2 catalyst agent. This reactor may result of special interest for removing the non-biodegradable pollutants and byproducts present in water by photochemical and thermal processes, the invention having an environmental application since the volatile compounds are susceptible to be removed by the IR component. In such a manner, both the photo catalytic and thermal contributions are useful for obtaining effluents treated with a reduced final amount of organic compounds in the treated effluent.
