Abstract
Se proporciona un método para elaborar hielo. El método incluye (1) llenar un depósito con agua hasta un nivel superior de agua, predeterminado, (2) medir la conductividad del agua en el depósito, (3) hacer circular agua desde el depósito sobre un evaporador, para formar hielo sobre el evaporador durante un ciclo de elaboración de hielo, (4) monitorizar un nivel de agua del agua en el depósito, en donde el nivel de agua del agua en el depósito disminuye conforme se forma el hielo, y (5) en respuesta a una determinación de que (a) la conductividad es igual a o mayor que un valor de conductividad predeterminado, y (b) el nivel de agua ha disminuido hasta un nivel de agua más bajo, predeterminado mientras que el hielo está siendo elaborado, (i) agregando agua adicional al depósito (ii) completando el ciclo de elaboración de hielo, (iii) cosechando el hielo, y (iv) descargando el agua desde el depósito.
