Abstract
La descripción se refiere en general a un dispositivo de prueba que detecta el crecimiento del microorganismo por la detección de un metabolito gaseoso (por ejemplo, el dióxido de carbono) producido durante el crecimiento de las bacterias u otro microorganismo en una muestra de prueba. El dispositivo de prueba puede contener un medio de crecimiento del cultivo separado de un área detección por una membrana permeable al gas. La membrana permeable al gas permite que el dióxido de carbono se desplace por permeación hacia el área de detección. El área de detección incluye una mezcla solidificada de indicadores del pH y un agente de gelificación en la forma de una matriz semipermeable. Las propiedades ópticas, incluyendo la absorbancia de la luz a varias longitudes de onda, de la solución de detección, cambia con las alteraciones en la concentración del dióxido de carbono.
