Abstract
Un método para controlar la actividad de bacterias reductoras de sulfato o arqueas metanogénicas (o ambas) en ambientes que contienen tales organismos, que comprende tratar el ambiente con ácido nitroso (HNO2) puro o con una solución que contiene nitrito (N02=) que tiene un pH de menor que 7 o al adicionar nitrito al ambiente y que tiene un pH de menor que 7 en el ambiente.
