Abstract
La invención proporciona métodos para producir plantas, materiales vegetales y semillas que tienen varios atributos deseables para consumidores de estos productos, así como para los reproductores de plantas comerciales, y a plantas, materiales vegetales y semillas mejorados que se producen por estos métodos. Los métodos de la invención proporcionan plantas híbridas, materiales vegetales y semillas que tienen al alelo shrunken-2i (sh2-i) mutante incorporado en sus genomas, secuencialmente junto con uno o más de otros alelos mutantes, tales como los alelos sugary-1 (sul), sugary enhancer-1 (sel) y/o shrunken-2 (sh2), y que tienen varios rasgos benéficos, incluyendo una capacidad de retención de azúcar extendida en la etapa de alimentación post óptima y un vigor y condición mejorados significativamente para la planta, material vegetal y/o semilla durante la germinación de la semilla, emergencia de plántulas del suelo y desarrollo de la planta.
