Abstract

Métodos para producir carbón desvolatilizado y/o activado en un reactor o recipiente de reacción de un sistema de tratamiento térmico a partir de un material de abastecimiento carbonáceo adecuado introduciendo el material de abastecimiento en el reactor tangencialmente a una velocidad de rotación de por lo menos 90 RPM (Figura 2); los métodos incluyen los pasos de proveer una combinación de medio de transporte y un flujo de gas que tiene diversas composiciones y crear patrones de flujo de material de abastecimiento carbonáceo y condiciones de procedimiento distintos de modo tal que el material de abastecimiento sea transportado a través del reactor o recipiente de reacción y calentado vía combustión, produciendo así carbón activado u otros carbones tratados térmicamente mientras concurrentemente se evitan condiciones de reacción adversas; sistemas de tratamiento térmico de una sola etapa y de dos etapas se pueden usar para calentar un material de abastecimiento de carbón, a los cuales uno o más minerales industriales se pueden agregar para coproducir composiciones tales como cal con el carbón tratado térmicamente.
