Abstract
La invención proporciona composiciones, composiciones farmacéuticas y vacunas para el tratamiento, mejoramiento y/o profilaxis de diabetes, preferiblemente diabetes de tipo II. Las composiciones, composiciones farmacéuticas y vacunas de la invención comprenden una partícula central y un antígeno, en donde el antígeno comprende una molécula de interleucina-1 (IL-1). Cuando se administran a un animal, preferiblemente a un ser humano, las composiciones, composiciones farmacéuticas, y a vacunas inducen respuestas inmunitarias eficientes, en particular respuestas del anticuerpo, en donde típicamente y preferiblemente las respuestas del anticuerpo están dirigidas contra IL-l. Así, la invención proporciona métodos de tratar, mejorar o prevenir diabetes, preferiblemente diabetes tipo II, en forma de inmunización activa contra IL-1.
