Abstract

La invención se relaciona con un método y aparato para eliminar las emisiones de gas CO2 a partir de una central de energía de combustión del carbón, que comprende un medio para eliminar físicamente el gas CO2 del carbón, y luego utilizar un dispositivo turbocompresor y un turboexpansor para producir aire superenfriado, que luego se puede mezclar con el gas CO2 para formar cristales de CO2 congelado que se pueden aglomerar conjuntamente para formar bloques de hielo seco, donde estos bloques de hielo seco se pueden transportar y almacenar fácilmente, y/o utilizarse para propósitos comerciales (como en la industria de bebidas). Preferiblemente, los procesos de calentamiento (compresión) y enfriamiento (expansión) generan una energía adicional la cual se puede usar posteriormente para compensar el sustancial gasto asociado con la separación de gas CO2 del carbón.
