Abstract

La presente invención proporciona reactivos poliméricos de múltiples brazos que están dirigidos a hidroxiapatita, que son adecuados para reaccionar con agentes biológicamente activos para formar conjugados, los reactivos poliméricos comprenden una o más cadenas de polímero y una pluralidad de porciones dirigidas a hidroxiapatita que se localizan en el término de una o más de las cadenas de polímero; los polímeros de múltiples brazos se dividen o separan opcionalmente por uno o más enlaces degradables en segmentos de polímero que tienen un peso molecular adecuado para la depuración renal; los reactivos poliméricos de la invención pueden tener una estructura sustancialmente lineal, aunque también se contemplan estructuras ramificadas o de múltiples brazos; la invención es adecuada para aplicaciones en las que es deseable un polímero de alto peso molecular, como por ejemplo un peso molecular promedio en número de polímero total de por lo menos aproximadamente 30,000 Da para polímeros lineales y de 20,000 Da para polímeros de múltiples brazos; cada estructura incluye uno o más enlaces que son capaces de degradarse in vivo; el uso de múltiples porciones dirigidas a hidroxiapatita en cada molécula del polímero mejora la capacidad del reactivo de polímero de dirigirse y unirse selectivamente a superficies de hidroxiapatita, lo cual a su vez, puede mejorar la concentración de la porción biológicamente activa suministrada en el sitio del hueso.
