Abstract
Se proporciona un método y sistema de tratamiento de agua de baja energía; el sistema tiene al menos un dispositivo de electrodiálisis que produce agua parcialmente tratada y un producto derivado de salmuera, un suavizante, y al menos un dispositivo de electrodeionización; la corriente de agua parcialmente tratada puede ser suavizada por el suavizante para reducir la probabilidad de la formación de costras y para reducir el consumo de energía en el dispositivo de electrodeionización, el cual produce agua que tiene propiedades objetivo; al menos una porción de la energía utilizada por el dispositivo de electrodeionización puede ser generada por diferencias de concentración entre la salmuera y las corrientes de agua de mar introducidas en los compartimientos del mismo; la corriente de salmuera también se puede utilizar para regenerar el suavizante.
