Abstract
La presente invención se relaciona con una secuencia promotora SP3D, capaz de dirigir la transcripción de un gen SP3D corriente abajo el cual esta operablemente ligado a dicha secuencia promotora, caracterizada porque la secuencia promotora es derivada de una especie de la familia Solanaceae que tiene un índice simpodial de 2, para reducir el índice simpodial en las plantas que tienen un índice simpodial dé 3 o mas. La invención también se relaciona a los métodos para proporcionar plantas de la familia Solanaceae, en particular S. lycopersicum, que tienen un índice simpodial reducido que comprende de: introducir dentro del genoma de dichas plantas una secuencia promotora de acuerdo a cualquiera de las reivindicaciones 1-8 en enlace operable con un gen SP3D corriente abajo o introducir dentro de dichas plantas un constructo de gen de acuerdo a cualquiera de las reivindicaciones 9 a 15, de tal modo que el índice simpodial de la planta con la secuencia promotora o constructo de gen se reduce esto se observa al compararla con la planta sin dicha secuencia promotora o constructo de gen y con las plantas obtenidas a través de dichos métodos.
