Abstract
The present invention refers to a method for obtaining white sugar from sugar cane, which is characterised in that it may obtain sugar colours including from about 300 to about 150 ICUMSA units, with an amount of sulfites not higher than 5 ppm, and ashes not higher than 0.20% in the case of white sugar; and with regard to the refined sugar, colours lower than 40Ul are obtained, as well as sulfites not higher than 5 ppm and ashes lower than 0.04%, with a reduced amount of chemical products, equipments and reducing sugars; the manufacture time is optimized, the wearing conditions reduced, the process turned into more efficient as well as the use of chemical products, also avoiding SO2 pollution. The method is characterised in that it simplifies the traditional process for obtaining white sugar using elemental sulfur, where the pre-alcalization and sulfitation processes are removed with the respective machinery and equipment thereof, also reducing the amount of chemical products such as lime, phosphoric acid, sulfur and activated carbon, only adding sodium metabisulfite whether or not it is complemented with monosodium phosphate in juices with values of from about 4 pH to about 6.6 pH before being subjected to any clarification process in juice, syrup or melted liqueur.
