Abstract

The invention relates to a combustion process, especially for melting glass, in which a flame is created both by an impulse of liquid fuel and a single impulse of gaseous fuel, characterized in that the fraction of the total power due to the liquid fuel varies between 20 and 80%, and in that the specific impulse of the gaseous fuel is limited to a sufficiently low value such that the NOx content of the fumes produced does not exceed 800 mg/Nm3 for a cross-fired furnace and 600 mg/Nm3 for an end-fired furnace; an injector for implementing this process; a burner comprising one or more such injectors; a furnace comprising at least one such burner.
