Abstract

Se describe un procedimiento en húmedo de bajo impacto ambiental para recuperación del contenido de plomo de fangos de electrodo y/o minerales de plomo en forma útil de carbonatos de plomo de alta pureza que se pueden convertir a óxido de plomo muy puro por tratamiento con calor en horno a temperatura relativamente baja, perfectamente adecuado para elaborar pastas de electrodo activas de baterías nuevas u otros usos. El procedimiento comprende básicamente las siguientes etapas: a) agregar ácido sulfúrico a una suspensión de lixiviación del material impuro inicial para convertir los compuestos de plomo disueltos a sulfato de plomo insoluble; b) separar la fase sólida constituida por sulfato de plomo y las impurezas no disueltas de la solución de lixiviación ácida; c) disolver selectivamente el sulfato de plomo contenido en la fase sólida separada en una solución acuosa de un compuesto solubilizante de plomo, que comprende preferiblemente acetato de sodio, d) separar la solución que contiene sulfato de plomo disuelto del residuo de fase sólida que incluye impurezas no disueltas; e) agregar a la solución separada de sulfato de plomo un carbonato del mismo catión del compuesto disolvente para formar carbonato de plomo insoluble y/u oxicarbonato de plomo y un sulfato disuelto del mismo catión; f) separar el carbonato y/u oxicarbonato de plomo precipitado de la solución de disolución que ahora contiene también sulfato del catión del compuesto solubilizante.
