Abstract
Esta invención se relaciona con un proceso que utiliza isótopo natural de carbono 13 para identificación de avance temprano del agua de inyección en pozos petroleros. Todas las fuentes de agua natural son marcadas mediante proporciones únicas de isótopos de carbono (13C/12C). Siguiendo los requisitos de la invención, se determina a la proporción del isótopo de carbono para el agua de formación que llega petróleo y para el agua del acuífero local que va a ser inyectada en la roca del reservorio de petróleo. La proporción del isótopo de carbono del agua producida de los pozos de petróleo seleccionados de monitorea entonces periódicamente. Cuando la proporción del isótopo de carbono del agua producida (pozo de petróleo) muestra la desviación del valor del agua de formación y tiende hacia el valor de agua de inyección, entonces se identifica el fenómeno de avance temprano del agua de inyección. Así el contraste en las proporciones de isótopo de carbono natural del agua de inyección, el agua de formación y el agua producida de los pozos de petróleo seleccionados sirve como trazador en la identificación del fenómeno de "Avance Temprano" del agua de inyección y su movimiento.
