Abstract

Las espumas poliméricas, biodegradables, expandidas y extruídas se obtienen utilizando polímeros biodegradables y formiato de metilo que no es VOC ambientalmente benigno como agente de soplado. El agente de soplado puede ser una combinación que incluye además por lo menos un co-agente de soplado, preferiblemente una especie que no daña al medio ambiente (por ejemplo, que no es SOC), el cual es ya sea un co-agente de soplado físico (por ejemplo un agente inorgánico, hidrocarburo, hidrocarburo halogenado, hidrocarburo con grupo (s) funcional(es) polar(es), agua o cualquier combinación de los mismos) o un co-agente de soplado químico o combinaciones de los mismos. La combinación del agente de soplado puede incluir cualquier combinación de formiato de metilo y uno o más co-agentes de soplado. La espuma polimérica puede incluir un polímero biodegradable o sus combinaciones con otros polímeros biodegradables o polímeros convencionales (que no son biodegradables).
