Abstract

Se proporciona una partícula compuesta que comprende poliestireno y un relleno, y que tiene altos niveles de afinidad entre el relleno y la matriz de poliestireno, pocos o un pequeño número de huecos en la interfaz entre el relleno y la matriz de poliestireno, y excelentes propiedades mecánicas, y un método para preparar la misma partícula compuesta. La partícula compuesta de poliestireno-anhídrido maleico/hidróxido de magnesio se produce mediante polimerización en bloque de una mezcla de un monómero de estireno, un agente de reticulación, un iniciador de la polimerización, anhídrido maleico, e hidróxido de magnesio que está cubierto previamente con un agente de tratamiento de superficie para impartirle a ésta hidrofobicidad, y posteriormente polimerización en suspensión de un producto obtenido a partir de la polimerización en bloque.
