Abstract

The present invention refers to a composition for neutralizing acid compounds, of the organic type, which neutralization salts are hydrocarbon soluble, and mainly used in the oil industry for protecting metallic compounds of the dome lines, heat exchangers and accumulators of units for distilling crude oils of petroleum. Said composition consists in an amine mixture, which besides being compatible with certain corrosion inhibitors, it works perfectly at a pH of from about 4 to about 7, suitably controlling the pH of the condensates obtained in the dome section of the distillation plants. The continuous dosing of the inventive composition allows the acid components to be neutralized, thus controlling the pH of said stream at intervals of from about 5.5 to about 7.0, also reducing the tendency of fouling caused by the formation of neutralization salts over the metallic surfaces, which reduces the metal corrosion. On the other hand, the neutralization salts of the present invention are l ess corrosive than those obtained with amines of low molecular weight and commercial neutralizers, thereby protecting the condenser metallic surfaces of the dome section pertaining to the distillation plants, as well as the corrosion of the localized type present under the formed deposits. In addition, the inventive composition presents an excellent compatibility with the filmic corrosion inhibitors used in a complementary manner, offering a higher protection against corrosive compounds, while the neutralization salts notably increase the effectiveness thereof for reducing the corrosion speed.
