Abstract
The present invention refers to a process for the reduction of viscosity in heavy hydrocarbons by using a viscosity reduction. The heavy hydrocarbons are found in the subsoil of oil wells, and due to the physical properties thereof such as high viscosity, require a large amount of energy to be transported to the surface and ducts. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a process for reducing the viscosity in heavy hydrocarbons by using three viscosity reductors, which main element is a renewable vegetable oil, wherein the high costs generated by the injection of water steam or chemical compounds derived from oil are eliminated. The present process uses a vegetable oil resulting from a plant of the Jatropha genus and Curcas species, where viscosity reductor may be prepared from said oil, also using methanol, phosphoric acid or hydrochloric acid. The viscosity reductor may be applied in different percentages to the heavy hydrocarbon, depending on the viscosity in centipoises to be obtained.
