Abstract

Un metodo y aparato para llevar a cabo una exploracion sismica la cual comprende generar un evento sismico; aplicar el evento sismico a la superficie de la tierra; detectar una respuesta al evento utilizando un interferometro en el cual existe un movimiento relativo entre la superficie de la tierra y el interferometro, la respuesta detectada incluye ondas P y ondas S en la superficie de la tierra; y analizar la respuesta detectada y en la cual: el paso de deteccion comprende monitorear y registrar la respuesta al evento sismico en la forma de movimientos de particulas en la superficie de la tierra a partir de una posicion separada de la superficie de la tierra, el paso de deteccion se lleva a cabo sobre un periodo de respuesta, el periodo de respuesta es un periodo predeterminado de tiempo despues del evento sismico; y el paso de analisis comprende analizar los movimientos de particulas en la superficie de la tierra en la respuesta registrada al evento sismico durante el periodo de respuesta; dicho movimiento relativo tiene una velocidad total V0 la cual incluye un componente V transversal o de direccion y un componente V1 longitudinal; la operacion del interferometro incluye: dirigir un rayo del objeto de luz coherente a una posicion de medicion en la superficie de la tierra, con la cual existe movimiento relativo entre la superficie y la posicion de medicion; colocar un sistema de detectores en el interferometro en una linea que se extiende generalmente en la direccion transversal, los detectores estan colocados para detectar los rayos de luz con diferentes direcciones angulares, representar diferentes direcciones de sensibilidad; producir un rayo de referencia de luz coherente la cual es al menos parcialmente coherente con el rayo del objeto; combinar el rayo de referencia con el rayo del objeto reflejado desde la superficie para producir una interferencia cruzada en el patron de particula y el patron de interferencia cruzada con los detectores; determinar cual detector en el sistema tiene sensibilidad cero o minima a la velocidad total V101 de movimiento con el cual se identifica el detector con una linea de direccion de sensibilidad que es normal a V0 monitorear el cambio temporal en el cual los detectores tienen sensibilidad cero o minima con lo cual se determina el cambio en la direccion V0 con el tiempo ocasionado con los cambios en y1, y determinar los cambios temporales en V1.
