Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a mejoras en una torre enfriadora de agua que tiene un depósito de distribución de agua caliente, un depósito de agua fría subyacente al depósito de distribución de agua caliente, una zona de entrada de aire frío y una zona de descarga de aire caliente, en donde las mejoras comprenden; un empaque de relleno de película ubicado entre el depósito de distribución de agua caliente y el depósito de agua fría, en disposición para el flujo de aire a través de él, desde la entrada de aire frío hacia la zona de descarga de aire caliente, dicho empaque comprendiendo una serie de hojas de relleno de película espaciadas, lado contra lado generalmente ondulantes, delgadas, integrales, adaptadas para el flujo de agua en película que se va a enfriar sobre las mismas, cada hoja estando formada en un patrón repetido de tipo cheurrón, para presentar una serie de rebordes espaciadso, caracoleados en zig-zag, sobre las caras opuestas de la hoja que definen ranuras en zig-zag respectivas, configuradas complementariamente, entre cada par adyacente de rebordes; los rebordes sobre una cara de cada hoja definen las ranuras sobre la cara opuesta de la misma hoja y viceversa; cada uno de los rebordes está compuesto de una serie de secciones triangulares de extremo con extremo que se enfrentan alternadmaente en direcciones opuestas y que tienen segmentos de para correspondientes que divergen los cuales presentan un ángulo interior agudo respectivo entre ellos; los rebordes y en consecuencia las ranuras, siendo entre ellos de una configuración generalmente triangular de manera transversal a los mismos; la distancia desde las porciones más externas de una cara de la hoja formada hasta las porciones más externas de la cara opuesta de la hoja respectiva (dimensión entre exteriores) está en el intervalo de aproximadamente 4.572 mm a 7.62 mm. la elevación del patrón en zig-zag, es decir la distancia desde la zona de fusión de dos segmentos de pata de reborde que miran en una dirección hasta la siguiente zona adyacente de fusión de dos segmentos de reborde del mismo reborde y que miran en la misma dirección siendo desde aproximadamente 25.4 a 50.8 mm; el ángulo agudo interior definido por los segmentos de pata divergentes de cada sección de reborde triangular de aproximadamente 50 a 70grados, el ángulo incluido entre las superficies de cada reborde y así de cada ranura trasnversalmente a aquel, está dentro del intervalo de aproximadamente 60 a 90 grados, el espacialmiento centro a centro entre hojas adyacentes estando en el intervalo de aproximadamente 12.7 a 25.4 mm; y la hoja de relleno estando orientada de manera que los espacios entre hojas adyacentes sean generalmente paralelos a la trayectoría del aire que fluye desde la entrada de aire frío a la zona de descarga de aire caliente.
