PATENT FOR MICRO-COMPRESSED HEMORRHOIDAL DRESSING

The present invention relates to a dressing or micro-compress in the medical field, intended to prevent the formation of external hemorrhoids (or hemorrhoidal fluxion), in order to eliminate the pain that accompanies them.

The care currently provided, apart from surgical intervention, is limited to the application of ointments and creams, combined with the ingestion of medication.

The majority of patients fear surgery and the application of ointments reduces, but does not eliminate, the pain.

The dressing according to the invention allows the user to live their daily life without suffering and without fear of a crisis in inopportune circumstances: workplace, public place, etc.

The formation of hemorrhoidal swelling or fluxion is prevented by the dressing according to the invention, which thus prohibits pain, discomfort and bleeding.

It is made up of two elements: on one side a sheet of paper fibers or rather very fine cellulose wadding, of about 20 grams/m2, on the other side a layer of gauze, woven from cotton or linen thread, or any other support having in this case the same properties of very little thickness and providing solidity to the dressing.

These elements are assembled face to face by heat bonding or by any other method.

The approximate surface area of the dressing should be 20 cm², 4.5 x 4.5 cm for a square shape, 5 cm² for a round shape.

The paper or cellulose wadding side can serve as a support for a hemostatic powder (not essential).

The application of the dressing requires prior pushing in the hemorrhoid(s), drying the anal walls and the sphincter and, to facilitate adhesion, not applying any greasy substances (ointments, etc...).

Place the dressing gauze side on the finger, paper side or cellulose wadding top then insert it into the anus up to the sphincter (depth 3 to 4 cm).

After application, the paper or cellulose wadding side of the dressing adheres to the anal walls by absorbing the moist particles, like cigarette paper on a razor cut. The gauze side, which supports the paper side, is now in a conical position after the finger is removed, with gauze on gauze, and its rough texture holds the dressing in place, preventing it from slipping outwards.

The natural pressure of the sphincter holds the dressing securely in place for 24 hours, even during prolonged standing and regardless of the type of work performed. The very thinness of the dressing, on the order of 2 to 3 millimeters, causes no discomfort.

The dressing can be sold in individual sterilized sachets.

With a surface area of approximately 20 cm2, it consists on one side of a sheet of paper fibers or cellulose wadding (1) lined on the other side with a layer of gauze woven from linen or cotton yarn (2).

This layer of gauze used as a support can be replaced by an element having the same properties of thinness, strength (for 1 application) and roughness.

The manufacturing process by heat sealing, preferred in this case to traditional gluing, has interesting characteristics of permeability to air and water and of not peeling off even in the event of steam sterilization.

The process according to the invention, paper or cellulose wadding on fabric, represents a novelty and is likely to be adopted by manufacturers, particularly in the textile sector.

In the context of an extension of the use of this process, the term "fabric" should be understood to mean synthetic or natural fibers.

It should also be noted that the dimensions mentioned in this description are indicative only and relate exclusively to the manufacture of the micro-compress for use as a hemorrhoidal dressing. It goes without saying that the same product used for different purposes may vary in its dimensions, whether in the medical or paramedical field, or in the industrial sector, particularly textiles, or any other field.

Claims (8)
