Camping regulations etc.
#wiki
Nothing ideological here — mostly a collection of notes about camping regulations, where it is permitted/forbidden, etc.
The idea is to have something to refer to when planning bike trips.
Definition of "camping" in this page: 1–3 people travelling by bike with one tent/a hammock per person needing to sleep for one night. Tent is put up in the late afternoon and taken down in the early-ish morning.
Basic principles
- Leave no trace
- Respect the environment hosting you
- No camping on private property
- No camping on sensitive natural areas
- Minimise use of fires (use camping stoves only if necessary)
- Avoid areas where people go through
Italy
Name to be used for "camping" as intended in this page: "bivacco (notturno)".
Whether camping is or is not allowed is delegated to the first level local administrations ("Regioni" or "Province Autonome"). They might delegate it further, so prepare for some interesting rabbit holes...
A possible shortcut (or is it?) can be to contact the relevant local administration, a.k.a. "comune", and ask for permission.
Veneto
Couldn't find general regulation.
In protected natural areas, camping is only permitted in specifically marked areas. Source: Legge Regionale 16 agosto 1984 n. 40 art. 12.
Trentino
Camping is permitted, unless forbidden by local authorities (i.e., "comuni", "comunità di valle", etc.). Source: Legge Provinciale 4 ottobre 2012 n. 19 art. 7 comma 1.
