about me!
hi! my name is hailey (they/them), im a 21 year old transfem from canada, and the owner of this site! thanks for checking it out, it means a lot! (you can find ways to contact me at the bottom!)
normally im usually pretty reserved and like to keep to myself, but im always happy to speak to others despite having severe social anxiety (the problem is that i can't reach out to people myself, i just hope they come to me). im also, like, really autistic,,,
i don't have a lot of web design experience personally, but it was something that i was always interested in. ive always found most social media to be very limiting in terms of expressing yourself, and looking at how most of the web functioned back in the mid to late 90s (geocities and similar sites), it honestly makes me kinda jealous for people who grew during that time... it must've been very magical!!
my goal with this website is to (hopefully) encourage others to do the same as i have by making a website! the basics of html/css aren't super hard once you learn them, this entire website was made by hand (with inspiration, of course!), and its much less restrictive for expressing yourself compared to most social media (but seriously, why did they remove so many customization options from sites like youtube? its really sad).
i have a huge passion for technology spanning the early 90s and late 2000s. as it wasn't an era that i naturally really grew up in, im very fascinated by just how quickly technology evolved in such a short amount of time. thats one of the reasons i made this site!! to try and replicate those old geocities websites while using it as a way to express myself during a time where my mental health has been at an all time low.
i also love video games in general! i have a lot of fond memories playing games on the ps2 and wii, as those were the consoles i grew up with! some of my favourite games/franchises include pokemon, fire emblem, splatoon, f-zero, gran turismo, need for speed, oneshot, va11hall-a, hypnospace outlaw, final fantasy xiv, monster hunter, and a bunch of others! i might make a page dedicated to recommending games that people may or may not have heard of!
in terms of myself personally, for the past several years my mental health has been on a decline. ive had the drive to do less and less, became less confident and trusting of myself, and have had less energy overall thats led me down some dark paths. it wasn't until about a year ago that ive tried to do something about it and have found out more about who i personally want to be, as ive felt ive lost all identity within myself. this website serves as a way for me to discover more about myself by allowing me the ability to creativity express myself. the journey to recovery will be long, but i have a positive outlook on things, and im hoping all goes well!

id like to thank my two main inspirations for this sites design, sadgrl.online and whirlwind! please check them out if you have the chance, their websites are amazing and are very pretty!! (sadgrl is where i got the font for the original header and background from!)
most of the animated icons on this page come from gifcities, an excellent resource for finding old animated gifs from geocities!
the navigation bar icons come from GUIdebook, a gui museum for old operating systems! its a really cool site if you're interested in graphical components of operating systems and applications!
the character art on my home page comes from duwi.exe! they're a very lovely person who makes amazing pixel art! check them out if you haven't!
the logo and banner was made with two main fonts: octuple max and 13 misa, found on dafont, a library of basically an endless supply of fonts! the background was found from frutiger aero archive and their collection of backgrounds, and then dithered with a dithering tool!
