TMO/Ubekvem Wonderful album! So glad I happened upon Nathan's work.
A great balance between light and dark, quiet and busy. Just like the real forest on a macro-/micro-scale.
Favorite track: Fairy Circle.
Ether Diver
Ether Diver thumbnail
Ether Diver A welcoming blend of ambient, orchestral and field recording that invites you to lie down among its titular trees and soak up the ample vibes. Warm synth tones fill in the spaces between hyperreal field recordings, occasionally making way for snippets of distorted voices. Drones and wobbling tones move thru impossible spaces in fascinating shapes. It gets gnarly, glitchy and digital-forest-gone-weird thru the middle then takes a turn for the unearthly & uncanny before returning to form to end. Favorite track: Undergrowth.

"Blending field recordings, dark ambient moods, and sci-fi-tinged explorations, his work invites listeners on deep listening adventures where light and shadow intertwine. His latest release, Electric Forest, showcases this evolving sonic identity, each track a distinct path in an otherworldly journey."

I've always been captivated by the intersection of nature and technology. I like that transitional space where the organic and the artificial overlap and intertwine. As human beings, we shape and are shaped by the digital tools we create. Likewise, the natural world itself is increasingly altered and displaced by human invention.

With Electric Forest, I invite you on an immersive journey through a woodland alive with energy, where voltage flows like sap and every tree vibrates with electricity. The Tegeler Forest, nestled near my home in Berlin, has often been an inspiration for my creative projects. The unique light and aroma of the forest helps free my mind of the everyday worries.

Many of the textures on this album come directly from that forest. I’ve woven in original field recordings captured among the tall trees and rich undergrowth. These natural sounds form the foundation, layered with the pulsing, shifting tones of my modular synthesizer. The result is a dreamlike soundscape meant to enchant, unsettle, and transport.

Electric Forest is, in many ways, a spiritual sequel to my previous EP, Electric Birds. But where that project embraced raw abstraction, this album leans more into melody and harmony without abandoning the experimental essence that listeners have come to expect from my music. You’ll also hear echoes of my love for orchestral music, most notably in the warped, recontextualized fragments of Engelbert Humperdinck’s playful opera, Hänsel und Gretel.

Though divided into tracks, this album is intended to be experienced as a continuous journey. From the first footsteps to the final digital echo, I hope you’ll let it carry you through the forest, both real and imagined.
