Hostage (2005)

hostage“You know what cops do when they retire? They play golf. I don’t want to play golf.” – Jeff Talley

Number of Times Seen – 2 (30 Apr 2006 and 2 Jun 2015)

Brief Synopsis – A small town sheriff who formerly was a hostage negotiator must deal with his past mistakes when a family in his area is taken hostage.

My Take on it – This is a movie that doesn’t really stand the test of time so well because it isn’t a very memorable movie experience.

Ever since he got it right in Die Hard (1988), Bruce Willis has been crancking out semi thrillers that are pretty much all the same.

They all have twists towards the end that you don’t always see coming but once you know it, the movie just isn’t as good anymore.

If all you’re seeking is a Willis type of thriller, you could do worse because this does have a few very entertaining scenes, but overall it’s just average.

Bottom Line – Liked it better the first time. Too many scenes feel too generic and instead you get a cookie cutter semi-action movie with Bruce Willis. Very predictable but still fun to watch if all you want is a Willis thriller.

MovieRob’s Favorite Trivia – Bruce Willis’s daughter in the movie, Amanda, was played by his daughter Rumer Willis. Rumer wanted the part, but Willis made her audition like everyone else and she got the part. (From IMDB)

Rating – BAFTA Worthy
