Number of Times Seen – 1 (10 Dec 2014)
Brief Synopsis – Story of how one of Hollywood’s royalty of the 1950’s married into real royalty in Monaco and needed to reestablish her life as a princess instead of actress.
My Take on it – This is a movie that my wife and I have been interested in seeing for the last few months and we finally got a chance the other day.
Any cinema historian can tell you about how the superb actress Grace Kelly quit ‘the business’ in order to marry the Heir to Monaco’s thrown in the latter half of the 1950’s and they lived happily ever after.
What most people don’t realize are the numerous difficulties they both faced both politically and personally during those troubling years after they married.
This movie tells that story and it is quite captivating.
There is so much debate lately about privacy and paparazzi that we sometimes forget that famous people still are regular people just like us and that their lives really aren’t perfect.
As Grace, Nicole Kidman did a nice job with the character.
Bottom Line – Nice performance by Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly. Liked how they built up the suspence both politically and personally. Perfect example of just because the world perceives famous people have purely easy and glamorous lives doesn’t make it true. Recommended!
Rating – Globe Worthy
