For the second time the City of Budapest presented MOME Photography MA students during Art Market Budapest in October. We organized one-day exhibitions showcasing Alumni, current projects and portfolios. As a special surprise Kirsztina Szalay won the Budapest Award for Young Talents with her diplomawork and photobook about the chinese market in Budapest.

MOME Photography students took part on the kick-off meeting of BredaPhoto Festival during the last weekend of September. The event was organized in Breda (NL), highlighted by speakers René ten Bos and Koert van Mensvoort addressing next years theme of the festival: To Infinity and Beyond. A competition between students of the eight invited universities and academies begins now to determine who will exhibit alongside the big names of the festival!
Professor Miklós Gulyás, Szilvia Mucsy and Gábor Arion Kudász open the exhibition of Photography Master students titled NewCity in the program of Budapest Photo Festival.
We began April by opening an exhibition following a one-week workshop examining the correlation between memory and fiction. Photographer David Favrod led MOME students to focus on their personal experiences and the possibilities of expressing the unspeakable, while in his wednesday evening lecture he offered a deeper insight into his working methods.

The Landesmuseum Württemberg invited our Schwabenzug project to be part of their Die Schwaben - Zwischen Mythos und Marke exhibition between 22nd of Oktober 2016 and 23rd of April 2017.

The intensive courseweek ends with an exhibition of the stunning results of Márton Perlaki’s remarkably dynamic workshop. Participants reacted to several flash assignments each day to compile a circular narrative by the end of the week.
Students are inhabiting our temporary home at building Z at the Danube-bank while the old MOME campus goes through a complete modernization. BA and MA evaluation week of the autumn semester in January with exhibitions and student presentations.
The 2017 spring semester starts with a momentum. Our guests, Anthony Marchetti and Márton Perlaki, two photographers from the US with hungarian connections in conversation with Gábor Arion Kudász. Mr. Marchetti introduced us to the thinking behind his ongoing project tracing back his family memories and history through a lost hungarian relative ‘Paul’, a series he works on as a Fulbright fellow and guest teacher at MOME. Mr. Perlaki discussed how a fashion commission and artistic ambitions meet in a book project he is just about to finalize following his successful and lovely book 'Elemér’.
