Updates #38 — Falling Behind

Good morning!

Mid-June and we just got a cold front and I’m relishing it after a week of humid high 80°s. It’ll be short lived I’m sure, but until then… Weightlifting is going steadily, increasing the weight no more than five pounds per week. Might be slower than necessary, but I rather not get a hernia. Plus, I’m weaker than I usually am, so any sort of ego lifting is out the window.

Last Saturday, we went to the Curiosities & Oddities Expo in Pittsburgh, a huge convention brimming with—like the name says—oddities, as well many, many very talented artists who create dark art: illustrations, taxidermy, figures/statues, etc. Nearly every booth held something that we could’ve bought, but we limited the spending, yet returned home with a tote bag full of prints. We’re going to need to get a ton of frames now.

Last thing of note is the Micah Castle Books Patreon exclusive sticker samples are en route. They look really fucking cool. Though, did have some issues with the design, but Sticker Ninja’s support was really helpful and we got that sorted.

(also, before I forget: Once I receive 75 free supporters on Patreon or 15 Patrons, I’m doing a very deep sale of signed paperbacks. Basically it’ll cost about the amount it costs to ship them, so we’re talking $5.00-$8.00. So, if you haven’t yet, consider signing up).

Updates #37 — Weights & Words

Good morning!

We’re now into June proper and surprisingly it’s been colder thus far than it was in earlier months. Weird, but I’ll take it. Not much’s gone on with me personally since Updates #36, except that after four months of not weightlifting on doctor’s orders I finally had my first session yesterday. I’m going very slow because the fear of getting a hernia is high, it’s around a 50% chance of getting one with having an ostomy. Granted, I was athletic for a long time beforehand, so muscle weakness at that degree isn’t something I deal with. Either way, I’ll keep going hard until after the second surgery.

Updates #36 — Why Are Places So Far Away?

Hello!

As before, the last two weeks were gone as soon as they came. I didn’t realize it had passed until yesterday, as to why this is a few days late. Sorry! Besides the usual, I spent the week in the Pocconos in Pennsylvania with my wife’s family and my BIL’s family, totaling about eighteen people under one roof. Fortunately, the house was large enough to accommodate that many people, although seemingly noise was a constant. We hiked once, took a train ride at Jim Thorpe, PA (interesting and maddening history of a quaint town with nice architecture), and the rest of the week was mainly outings and restaurants.
