I went in hopeful but cautious - and honestly, '28 Years Later: The Bone Temple' is so good. It doesn't coast on nostalgia or try to out-shock the originals for the sake of it. It feels confident, strange, and properly alive. From the opening moments it's tense, trippy, and relentlessly unsettling in that very '28 Days' way - you're on edge the whole time, but never bored.
The villain is genuinely fascinating. Not just scary, but interesting - the kind that gets under your skin because they feel disturbingly plausible. There's real menace there, layered with ideology and madness, and it gives the film a psychological bite that elevates the gore rather than drowning in it. And yes, it's gory - grim, visceral, and brutal - but it's purposeful. Nothing drags, nothing feels indulgent.
Most importantly, this is a worthy sequel. It respects the DNA of the franchise while pushing it somewhere darker and weirder, and I loved seeing it thrive rather than limp along. Proof that this world still has stories worth telling - and that the virus still hits just as hard all these years later.

Just read that I'm a bot. Well, I must be, this is a positive review!
Honestly, if you've come this far with the 28 series, just go and watch the thing. It's excellent. There's nothing more that needs to be said so I won't waffle on about how good the direction is or how well everybody performs.
See the movie!

I love how each 28 Days/Years movie focuses on different aspects and themes. This one involving cults, religion and philosophical elements added in with meaner, weirder and bolder ideas that keep things fresh. Danny Boyle's flair may not be present or the original music composers, but Nia DaCosta delivers her own flavour and take of a nicely shot and clean approach to the franchise's look and feel. It's also a much smaller scale movie than the previous ones, and that makes it way more focused and in my opinion far better paced and handled in most regards.
This is a movie strongly handled by two powerhouse performances from Ralph Fiennes and Jack O'Connell. Alfie Williams is still great, and the lead Alpha Samson played by Chi Lewis-Parry really shines in bringing in a new and humane approach to the infected side of things. It's certainly taking risks and not as infected-heavy as previous titles, but I think of all the films so far this could potentially be the one I like the overall best, alongside 28 Days Later.
8.5/10.

I loved this movie. Everything leading up to the ending was great. It was enjoyable, entertaining and most importantly fun but it is in the ending that the movie really shines. The ending was perfect. The movie is filled with nasty violence and a new side of the franchise is explored. Faith versus fear and satanism versus atheism is explored. This movie is far from only violence, it has heart.
The movie follows two very different plots. One follows the monstrous side of humanity meanwhile the other follows the humanization of a monster. One of the plots are centered around faith and fear while the other centers around science and philosophy. When these plots are later combined it leads into the banger of an ending.
The movie goes from great to badass before an emotional ending. The ending is really powerful, especially if you are a big fan of the franchise. I cried tears of happiness while the credits were rolling. The ending will satisfy any franchise fans, especially their ears.
The movie is also nice to look at. The cinematography is amazing . The performances of all actors are great. The characters are written wonderfully.

Absolutely loved this chapter of the story. Alex Garland and Danny Boyle's influence still pulses through the film, even under a new director. The Samson/Kelso relationship was genuinely magical, and I was deeply moved by the way their story was told. The dancing sequences and music choices had me smiling from ear to ear and laughing a few times. I can't recommend this enough. I was already a super fan, but this film completely hit the spot, one of my favourite cinema trips ever.
