Wow. Crass was half wrong when they sang “Big Brother’s not watching you, you’re watching him” because it goes both ways. It’s an attention economy and a surveillance economy.
The li’l switches on some phones to disable the phone hardware entirely make more sense now. Not to victim-blame because this is and should be illegal.
No matter how paranoid you (rightly) are, they’ll get you if friends and fam are more sloppy.
