Drawing a one-to-one correspondence between media consumption and behavior is always dicey—and never more so than when a high percentage of the audience is consuming a very different text than the one that is there. And it’s important to take a step back and check for alternate interpretations of the media we’re criticizing. All too often, feminist critiques of heterosexual porn wind up saying more about our views of women and sex than they do about the porn itself.

In conclusion: porn research is very bad and we don’t know anything. So it goes.

Not really sure where this video came from, I came downstairs in the morning and it was already fully uploaded. Dan doesn’t know anything about it either. Doesn’t seem like it’ll get me in trouble though so F it, we’ll let it rock. Weirdly enough it sounds like he’s listening to Shoegazer Watched The Stars from NMH2 for most of the video. With a brief appearance by 1811 from Lost Judgement.

Absolutely hilarious.

The tsundere is a well-known anime trope, that many people still love to this day. But something happened to it since its inception, and I want to talk about that.

The “database” is a very interesting comparative media concept; will keep it in mind.

Waifus are a very well-known part of anime culture. So many have strong opinions on them, and yet very few know the full story.

Wretched and revolting on all accounts. How one can live like this I will never understand. I hesitate before even calling a ship with 3 fics a rarepair. How one can complain about only 5k fics is beyond any line of rationale

Falling in love with a fictional character is not abnormal. Neither by societal standards based on just how many people do and by psychological standards. It is a normal thing we sometimes do as humans; become attached to someone who doesn’t really exist. Let’s take a journey into the mountain of psychological research and real life pandemonium of fictophilia.

Yeah I just can’t get into male characters. Every time one shows up he’s always just the Male Character to get brownie points and make an obvious epic maleboss so the writer can feel better about themselves. Not to mention they’re always getting in the way of my cute yuri ship. I just rather go focus on women instead. They’re always the more interesting and better written characters than the one random man they decided to shoehorn in.

Mikaze Takamiya is a proud high school girl who wants to be cool and perfect. However, her childhood friend, Naoko Wato, constantly throws her off balance. One afternoon after school, Mikaze is forcibly dragged to Naoko’s house and ends up playing a retro game. At first, they play cooperatively, but…!?A high school girls × retro games comedy packed with classic retro game tropes!

Would love to read this one day.

Shadow loves Latinas, Sonic. Everyone knows that. But is Rouge the Bat… Latinas? Let’s answer a question together that nobody in their right mind has ever asked, as we overanalyze the circumstances surrounding various anthropomorphic animals at the expense of our collective sanities.

Gacha games are famous for their raunchy character designs and objectification. But can you fight fire with fire? Can you teach gamers to respect women, by wrapping a positive message in lewd imagery? Goddess of Victory: Nikke is a game that attempts to find out. We’ll see just how Nikke teaches gamers to respect women, while also taking a look at the limits of Nikke as a teaching tool, in this relatively short video about the objectification of women in the gacha game space.

[…] it’s okay to enjoy your media, even if that media can have problematic aspects to it. This is the world in which we live, and we can either participate it or be alienated from it.
