Starting with good intentions

Hello!
How is your day going, great I hope!
Well I can't believe how fast the new month has come around, September kind of disappeared in a whirl of busyness and action.
I'm hoping October will be a little less frenetic!

So, it's October, and that means Blogtoberfest time again!
Are you joining in with the Blogtoberfest fun?
Have a look over here at Kat's blog I Saw You Dance for all the info if you are interested, there are lots of bloggy type joining in this year for a month of posting every day (yikes), and other bits and pieces that make for a good bloggy experience .

I am joining in as away to try and get a bit more consistent with my posting, I am really going to try and post something every day of October,  can't promise that it will be very interesting stuff, but every day it will be here!

Anyway, we had a few friends around for lunch yesterday, and in typical fashion I did a mad run around tidying surfaces and moving all the crap useful stuff we have covering any available space to other spaces that are out of sight. I don't want to open any of our cupboards at the moment, as they are now just about overflowing with Very Important Stuff.

So with my nice clear bench and tabletops I could set up cute little flower displays! Yay!
(picked from my own garden too, if I do say so myself!)
A nice reward for housework.  Then I had to take some photos to document said tidy space.  I might actually paint the photo above, I think it's quite a calming still life, and if I scrunch up my eyes to get a painterly effect, it looks pretty good!  haha....

More flowers, how I do like my stripey red vase!

Then I got on a pretty picture roll, and had to take a few of the dying poppies in the sun.
Great colours.

I'm thinking of using these nice warm colours for a bit of inspiration for a new blanket.  I don't use many warm hues, so it might by a fun change.
What do you think?
Are you a warm or cool person?

So, I am looking forward to the new month and all it will bring, lot's of good things I hope!

I think I will do a bit of a list of things I want to complete this month, there are lots of unfinished projects staring at me, waiting patiently for my interest to be rekindled, so now is the time!
You know, seize the day and all that.....

Ok, until tomorrow, I will say bye for now!

Blogtober 30th

well it's nearly the end of Blogtober, and I am kind of glad! I have been finding it hard to find something interesting to blog about recently. I have come to the conclusion that my life is just not that interesting/eventful/creative! I think I am too run of the mill to have something worth writing about every 24 hours! My family are pretty normal ( my youngest has just read this and tells me quite indignantly that he is not normal, apparently he takes it as an insult!) and I feel I am really the only one who would find their daily activities interesting! But they want to be in the blog so I will probably try and find their most exciting, excellent adventures to tell you about!

Soooooo.... although I have enjoyed it, I'll be glad to finish Blogtober, and I apologise for the lack of riveting posts and a tendency to bore the socks off you! Having said that, it has become a bit of a habit and I am going to try and keep up posting as often as possible, so hopefully my life will take a turn for the exciting and memorable!

Anyway I thought I'd post this picture of my son holding his modified nerf gun, that he painted and sawed bits off this afternoon, he is very pleased with himself! It has been raining all afternoon here so we have been cooped up inside. Luckily I planted a heap of seedlings before it rained so they are getting a good watering in. The rain also meant I could finish my little flower garland project. I will take a photo tomorrow and show you, I am pretty pleased with it.

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend and not getting washed away!

Flea market finds.....at my house..

Blogtober 4th

I found this great little cabinet and folding sides table at our local market on the weekend - very happy! Going to give them a super dooper paint job and transform them! I love the splayed legs and retro round corners on my funky cabinet, and I think the table will be very handy for big family gatherings, heaps better than an old card table.! Not sure yet if I'll paint it or restain it. Stay tuned for the big makeover photos!

Just thought I'd give you a quick look at how the tablecloth is progressing - quite slowly but steadily. The colours look good in this shot, I think it is going to be pretty when it's done.
I am joining as I go, which is different to the pattern but I think it will be easier in the long run.

Hoping tomorrow to show you a big ta da - I am nearly finished another crochet blankie, looking forward to showing you all!

Have a great day!

inspiration

Well it's the first day of Blogtoberfest and here I am with my first post - 1 down 30 to go!
Not too much to talk about really.
I picked these freesias from my garden today, I think they are so Spring- like and just smell heavenly! The boys were destroying them with soccer ball retrieval stomping through the garden so they are better off in my jar.

I recently got this beautiful book, it has some really nice inspiring retro type patterns in it.

I'm having a go at this tablecloth at the moment, I think looks lovely and kind of gypsy - retro.
Nice for a Christmas pressie?

This is cute, I love the tea cosy, even though I'm not really a tea drinker.

And I really like this bobbley bag, I'm thinking one in red or aquamarine would be just spiffy, I may just have to make both!
There's lots of other nice things in this book, me thinks it will get a good working over in the coming months. I have also ordered a couple of super cute Japanese crochet books from here, can't wait to get them, I'll do a show and tell!
Have a great day, and I'll be back tomorrow with something (not sure what though!)

My creative space #7

I've been doing a bit of hooky recently, as you can see, not really into tidying up as I go. I just bring out the next thing I need or something I want to look at and day dream about. I don't mean to be so messy, it just seems to evolve that way (and who am I to stand in the way of evolution.)

Started working on this pattern for a lacyish tablecloth, I'm supposed to make 80 of these babies, we'll see how we go. I bought all this cotton at Bendigo and the colours look lovely together so I think it will be a nice tablecloth for summer soirees in the garden with a chilled voddy and lime to sip on! ( Mental note - must try and complete this one!)

I've signed up for Blogtoberfest over here, never done anything like this before, committing to a post a a day for October. Hope I can keep up and find something interesting to post, it will be fun! ( I think/hope!)
