It’s not, at least not on a Mac. It refreshes automatically, I honestly haven’t refreshed my apps in months outside of upgrading to iOS 17.

xtsto[Dormant, please move to [email protected]] Movies and TV Shows@lemm.ee•‘The Marvels’ Meltdown: Disney MCU Seeing Lowest B.O. Opening Ever At $47M+English145·2 years agoNah if it was good content people wouldn’t care. If it was truly “superhero fatigue” Invincible wouldn’t be anywhere near as popular as it is. It came out in a post-Endgame world and is one of the biggest shows on television.
People will clearly happily still watch super hero content, IF it’s good.
xtsto[Dormant, please move to [email protected]] Movies and TV Shows@lemm.ee•‘The Marvels’ Meltdown: Disney MCU Seeing Lowest B.O. Opening Ever At $47M+English191·2 years agoI don’t understand that to begin with. They tout the whole “connected universe” angle but then if you look even slightly behind the curtain it’s obvious there’s nobody overseeing the lore between projects. Not when one is beginning while another is undergoing reshoots and rewrites. It’s not possible and it shows, just like how Tiamut has been sticking out of the ground in universe for like 2 years and all we’ve gotten is a joke reference in She-Hulk lmao.
I’m sure you have the options disabled that show this kind of stuff but it doesn’t mean it’s not there. Anyone who is not tech savvy (99% of the population) will have no clue how to turn this stuff off or that it’s even an option.
I guarantee any PC sold by any big box store or on Amazon will come with this stuff enabled by default.
Have you ever opened the start menu? There are ads there. Unless you’re using some release like LTSC or have a network-level Adblock there are ads in there. For TikTok, candy crush, Disney+, etc. it’s like the preinstalled bloat on some androids, they’re just ads you have to annoyingly remove from your start menu.
Wow it’s true. Linux users are like vegans. You never have to wonder because they’ll tell you they are whether you care or not
xtsto News•El Niño could unleash several '10-year flood events' this winter in cities such as Seattle and San DiegoEnglish4·2 years agolol didn’t parts of California flood last year/earlier this year? Why even bother calling them “10-year floods” when we can expect them annually or even more frequently
xtsto Apple•iOS 17.2 hints at Apple moving towards letting users sideload apps from outside the App StoreEnglish2·2 years agoYou can sideload Apollo? :o
xtsto Technology•8GB RAM in M3 MacBook Pro Proves the Bottleneck in Real-World TestsEnglish131·2 years agoThis is referring to the vast majority of users. At least for a few years
The “vast majority of users” do not know what RAM is and they don’t know what expandable memory means. Nor will they ever open their own laptops. If the laptop is slow after a few years they will just get a new one.
Yep. They use and sell your data whether you block ads or not. So they’re still making money off of those of us who block ads. I don’t owe them anything lmao. It’s sad seeing so many people in other threads defending YouTube/Google while they’re increasing the price of premium and locking shit like background play and higher bitrates behind a paywall all while selling out data. Nah fuck em
xtsto Avatar: The Last Airbender•Avatar: The Last Airbender | Netflix Live-Action | Official TeaserEnglish6·2 years agoThese kinds of remakes are for the original fans as much as a new audience. There are MANY people who write off animation entirely.
This is to expose new people to the story and hopefully some of those people will check out the original and see that animation is for everyone not just children.
xtsto politics •Trump Trashes ‘Incompetent’ Biden Team — Seconds Before Mixing Up Two Entire Countries By a LotEnglish5·2 years agoYes it’s unfortunate Biden is still the democratic front runner. But he’s not on stage saying how old and dementia-ridden his opponent is only to have major mental fumbles minutes later lmao.
Trump is really using the GOP namesake here- Gaslight, Obstruct, Project
xtsto politics •GOP Candidates Got Away With Fake Claims About Abortion At Their Debate (Again)English21·2 years agoYou literally cannot trust a word any of these clowns say. After Roe was struck down they said “we’ll just leave it up to the states” and now that a majority of Americans are making it clear state by state that they want the right to control their own bodies they’ve once again changed their tune.
“This is why a pure democracy doesn’t work”
i.e. let’s subvert the will of the people. Trump tried and failed to do it too. I’m beginning to believe the worst words you could possibly hear from someone’s mouth is “I’m a conservative”
If the alternative is trusting Google I’d rather stick with SMS. Implementing their closed source version of RCS would be a mistake. I’d half expect them to inject ads into the messages
In the last two years Michigan has gone from being on shaky ground politically to being a stronghold for human rights and rejecting garbage. Now that Ohio is following suit with codifying abortion rights and legalizing recreational cannabis… Great Lakes region is stepping up!
Fingers crossed idiot republicans don’t try to undo the will of the people.
xtsto Technology•8GB RAM on M3 MacBook Pro 'Analogous to 16GB' on PCs, Claims AppleEnglish14·2 years agoI’m trying to imagine the mental gymnastics you must have gone through to conjure that up :wheeze:
xtsto Technology•8GB RAM on M3 MacBook Pro 'Analogous to 16GB' on PCs, Claims AppleEnglish210·2 years agoLiterally a lottery. I used to do laptop repair for my job. HP makes the shittiest computers I have EVER seen so you’re extraordinarily lucky.
I lost count of how many HP laptops with broken hinges came across my desk. Too many. If you don’t know this issues exists it’s willful ignorance
xtsto Technology•8GB RAM on M3 MacBook Pro 'Analogous to 16GB' on PCs, Claims AppleEnglish23·2 years agoYes, several. Acer Nitro, Dell Inspiron 7000 series, several Lenovo Yogas, too many HPs to even keep track… If you have done laptop repairs at all for work in your life it’s honestly not even an uncommon sight.
Now in the last generation of MacBook apple made it so that the flex cables were too short and flexing the hinge back and forth over time would cause the screen to go, but I’ve never seen a MacBook with broken hinges from normal use.
Other brands do not do this because it is cheaper. Most do not pass those savings off to customers.
The setting is still on my Windows 10 PC. It’s still relevant since they’re still shipping it with Windows.
