I minimize plastics use, recycle anything that can be, reuse/renew whenever possible, minimize all use of products dangerous to the environment/ecosystems, educate myself on the issues and candidates and then vote in every election, volunteer for political campaigns, I educate my children about the environment (including what we do to minimize our impact and why it’s a problem at all) and politics (including the importance of voting, how to research candidates and issues). Yes, there is more I could do, but I think I do a pretty good amount–far above the average. My kids won’t blame me, even if the memes blame my generation.

I wouldn’t go out of my way to make older generations feel bad because that isn’t solving anything, but I would educate them so that maybe their votes will be better going forward.

  • I took it as growth of his character. He went from trying to take advantage of naive and/or promiscuous young women to trying to prevent them from being taken advantage of. Now, of course it’s not his place to do it for them, but he’s showing off his new “fatherly” behavior. I didn’t love that part, but it was nice to see him not being a total sleeze anymore.

I didn’t mind the finale overall, but I was sad the mom, only recently introduced, died off. I get they were using that as a springboard to get him back to Robin, but I was frankly done with the Ted-Robin pairing.

It could just be an audience problem. Teenagers have a whole lingo I am not privy to. Does that mean they are wrong? I probably know more words than the average teenager. Does that mean I’m using them wrong? A lack of knowledge from one party or both can lead to miscommunication. That doesn’t automatically mean someone is wrong. I used to use the term POS in the early days of my Internet use. It meant parent over shoulder so that my friends knew why if I was acting differently all of a sudden. My parents thought I was calling them a piece of shit or referencing point of sale. The former was just funny and the latter was a bit silly. They figured they were just missing something, but it didn’t mean they were using POS wrong. They just lacked the knowledge on one use for a different age group.

  • I don’t know the number of people, but it’s not a huge city. My point wasn’t how many my city has, it was the distributed part that might be helpful. I’m not saying they need 10+ different places like my city, but 2-4 places might work out better for them–I don’t know.

My city also is not ready for battle with the Borg or prepared to take on alien pathogens. Their needs are clearly different.

  • I can’t say for certain because I haven’t fully explored the logistics, but here’s a point for consideration. In my city, they have 3 different hospitals (not associated with each other). In addition to that, there are about 10 standalone ERs, all of which are associated with one of the hospitals. They could build one giant ED within the hospitals, but they chose to distribute them.

Another consideration for them compared to us, they have transporters. So, if they needed something or someone in a particular place, they could arrange that. I don’t know if that’s more an argument for or against centralized medical care.
