  • Sins of a Solar Empire 2, I found a bash script to edit a config file which masks the use of linux, otherwise it won’t allow the connection.

It’s a problem where the developer hasn’t allowed the game to let linux players join with windows ones for some reason, it feels very backwards with Linux becoming more used all the time

  • I switched in October to Mint and have had very few issues with it. I’m not particularly experienced when it comes to programming and found it pretty straighforward.

I had one sound issue which was fixed in about half an hour with some googling, one with a set of flight pedals not working and a game that won’t work with Windows users in multiplayer.

The only one causing me a real issue is the game one, it has taken me hours of searching with only partial fixes.

Overall I think the OS is great and the issues are small teething things, learning the small programing that it has required has made me feel more confident too since there is tons of documentation to help online.

  • I can’t say i’ve tried either of those distro’s but I chose mint because I heard it had good support for NVIDIA cards etc and wanted something easier to get into.

There was one game I have ran which I do have an issue with freezing in but I know this particular game had the same issue for some people on windows as well (though not me previously) so I don’t think it’s specifically a linux problem.

I’ve only had issues with audio on mint due to a mistake in one of the config files which didn’t allow it to recognise my sound board correctly but was fixed with a few minutes of googling thankfully.

I’ve heard bazzite is good for gaming so I hope it works well for you.

It’s useful to have updated drivers if a game or something isn’t working, otherwise it’s hardly a big deal, just need to keep the sysyem as up to date as it needs to run your sysyem, i’m on mint since October and never uad any headaches, even updates drivers recently to try to resolve an issue.

I tend to use Bandcamp, they have a thing on the first Friday of every month where they give a bigger cut to artists if you buy that day.

Edit: Just realised you said you couldn’t find the band on Bandcamp, oops.

Stop Killing Games, in short it’s a campaign that’s pushing petitions to force developers to keep games playable when currently if a developer is done with it they will just shut servers and there can be o way to play the games any more, or provide code for someone else to be able to set up a way for them to still be played.

The most emotional game I played was To the Moon. It’s kind of like a jrpg walking simulator with some puzzles and light gameplay in it but a fantastic story.

The developer has made quite a few games in the series now but none hit quite as hard as the first in my opinion.
