”Study finds” and ”we were surprised”. Should be ”study confirms”. Also, no wonder these people fall for opioids fast, as the only way opioids help chronic pain is by shutting the brain down to sleep mode through five of ten times the recommended dose.
Several of my co-sufferers from chronic pain treatment groups entered opioid addiction, from the opioids not helping at all against the pain. Their addiction started when they had to take such a high dosage to get their brain to stop registering any kind of pain or anxiety and enter sleep mode. Once they could get nerve pain blockers, most could taper down from the opioids. Some, of course, never could as they actually entered a serious opioid addiction. Two from a group of twelve are now passed, women in their 30’s.
Whelp, good that it’s confirmed. And. There are a lot of good studies being done. What worries me is yet another pharmaceutical finding yet another cheap-to-produce addictive option instead of fighting the real problem and discouraging actual help.

Thank you for the post and the link to the pelican rescue as well.
This reminds me of the stray cat that we adopted through a cat centre. Whenever we needed to take her to the vet or clip her nails we had to catch her in a towel because she got scared with more than one hand petting her and would shred our hands if we put forth two.
Now she’s the derpiest, most attention seeking void who demands to snuggle up to us whenever she doesn’t feel like sleeping under the couch.
I completely understand that the burrito bowl is to get them and us safe, but I imagine it must be difficult not to pet or give scritches to those adorable feathered raptors.
Oh, I missed that writeup. Well written! Heartbreaking.
I feel the same way, curled up under a blanket, looking out the window.
The weather app said ”5C, feels like -4C”, and I have to go out on errands soon…
Adorable.
Just found out a few days ago that snowy owls (fjällugglor) are considered extinct in Sweden, there have been no new hatchlings observed since 2015. I am so grateful towards people who make other animals lives better, thank you all who care about and for owls and other species.

Edit: Also, any country which requires military servitude and nationalistic obedience is not good. But there might be some good parts.
That X-ray is trippy. Looks like a cross between praying mantis, human and alien.

Regnato Buy European@feddit.uk•Keurig Dr Pepper completes acquisition of JDE Peet’s. That means a lot of coffee and tea brands gone to USA handsEnglish2·9 days agoI have to do what’s called a ”pudel” (a poodle) in Swedish. Löfbergs launched several coffee varieties (like Karisma) around 10 years ago and they ended up on a blacklisting due to Nestlé connections. So I haven’t bought any coffee from them for many years. But as it seems now, I was either misinformed or just naively against anything related to Nestlé. Sorry, fuck Nestlé, but I might just start enjoying Löfbergs again. Thank you for the comments.

I was wrong about the following:
Also: Löfbergs is owned by Nestlé or a subsidiary since ten years back or so.
